What printer cartridges does the Brother MFC-J4620DW use?

The Brother MFC J4620DW uses four individual IJT Direct branded ink cartridges, comprising of black, cyan, magenta and yellow. There are two capacities known as LC223, LC225 and LC227.  The IJT LC223 covers all four cartridges in the standard capacity and these cartridges offer up to 550 pages per cartridge. IJT Direct also offers the high capacity cartridges known as LC227 black and LC225 colours. You can get a very advantageous 1,200 pages on each of these cartridges. This is based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

Our thoughts on Design

The Brother MFC 4620 wireless printer is fairly small for an A3 printer coming in at  480 x 290 x 188 mm making it easy to move around if required. It also has both USB and network interfaces built into the printer; it’s even NFC enabled. When printing in thicker media you can use the bypass slot, for normal paper up to A3 you can use the 150 sheet input tray. When scanning or copying multiple documents you can use the automatic document feeder (ADF) to save time.

Main Printer Advantages

The biggest advantage of the MFC4620 printer is its print speeds, it can print A4 monochrome documents at 35 pages per minute and colour in 27 pages per minute.  It has a recommended maximum duty cycle of 13,000 pages per month so this printer can be used in both home and office settings. Don’t forget to use the duplex function and save money on paper by printing on both sides of the page.

Main Printer Disadvantages

It can be tricky printing on thicker media through the bypass tray; this is also a very slow process. It’s also quite slow when printing higher quality graphics. The paper feed is quite noisy which can be a big disadvantage to some users.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?
