What printer cartridges does the Brother MFC-J5720DW use?

The Brother MFC J5720DW uses a money saving 4 ink system of IJT Branded LC223 and LC225 ink cartridges. These inks are supplied as standard LC223 and high capacity LC225 cartridges of black, cyan, magenta and yellow. The standard ink cartridges print up to 550 pages whereas the high capacity inks can print up to 2,400 pages with the black cartridge and 1,200 pages for each of the colours. These numbers are based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

It accommodates the home user with its printing, scanning, and copying capabilities and also takes in to account the needs of business users because of the large paper tray plus the option of adding an extra tray and the automatic document feeder. The printers’ wireless connection and compact design mean it can achieve high quality prints as well as offering connectivity for multiple users

Our thoughts on Design

The Brother MFCJ5720 comes in an all black plastic design which is sleek and modern with all the features any home user and most business users will need. The automatic document feeder (ADF), unlike a lot of other printers, does not sit proud on top of the MFC J5720, it’s discreetly hidden under a top cover to keep the overall size and weight of the printer down. There is a large 3.7 inch colour touchscreen which helps the user navigate the printer’s functions and settings.

Main Printer Advantages

The Brother MFC J 5720 DW already has a very good paper capacity with tray that can hold up to 250 sheets of 80gsm A4 paper but add to the a second tray that can help a further 250 sheets, large jobs can be churned out much effort at all. Add to that the ability to print on both sides automatically (duplex) and on different paper sizes including A4, A3, Ledger, Legal and so on, the 5720 is at home as much at home as it is in an office.

Main Printer Disadvantages

It’s not what you’d consider a major issue but if you find yourself wanting to print larger jobs on heavier than 80gsm paper, the paper tray capacities reduce by 100. You’ll also find yourself needing to be a little more patient when it comes to print speeds; anything in colour is going to come out at 27 ppm and 35ppm mono.
