What printer cartridges does the Canon Pixma IX6850 use?

The Pixma IX6850 uses IJT Direct branded PGI551 and CLI550 ink cartridges. IJT Direct PG550XL and CLI551XL ink comes in high capacity black and individual colours.  The PGI550XL black can print up to 500 pages, the CLI551 black prints up to 800 pages and the CLI551 cyan, magenta and yellow can print up to 715 pages. This is based on 5% coverage on an A4 page.

Our thoughts on Design

The Pixma 6850 was released in white and an upper and lower cassette for paper feed- the lower one can take plain paper and the upper one for photo paper. This model has a flatbed photo and document scanner on the top of the printer. It has a large 8.8cm touch screen on the front of the printer making it even easier to use the direct memory card printing.

Main Printer Advantages

The Canon IX6850 can create fantastic images with a maximum resolution of 9,600x2,400dpi; it uses Canons very favourable 5 ink set up for its superb prints. You can use up to 300gsm photo paper in this printer for your photo prints. This printer has many connection options including USB cable, WIFI, Apple Air Print, Google Cloud Print, Print from Email and memory card printing.

Main Printer Disadvantages

The Canon Pixma-IX6850 can limit the user with photo printing as it can only take 20 sheets of photo paper at a time. This model did not have an option of a fax or automatic document feeder from new.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?
