What printer cartridges does the Hewlett Packard Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One use?
 
The HP Officejet Pro 8600 plus uses the HP 950 and 951 inks, there are standard and high capacity cartridges available for each of the cartridges.  IJT Direct’s branded inks come in the high capacity version, 950XL/951XL. Our black 950XL can print up to 2300 pages and each colour cartridge can print up to 1500 pages, whereas the standard black can only print up to 1000 pages and each colour up to 700 pages. These numbers are based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

The experts here are IJT Direct think the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus is best suited for home or small business use. It is a reasonably priced multifunction inkjet printer for the home, but with a recommended maximum monthly duty cycle of 25000 pages so would also perform well in a small office environment. With print scan copy and fax capabilities, this printer has all the features you could need in an all in one printer. The HP Pro 8600 Plus can also be connected to through USB,WIFI and network as well as mobile printing applications such as Apple AirPrint and HP ePrint. 
 
Our thoughts on Design
 
The Officejet Pro 8600 Plus has a 250 sheet input tray, 150 sheet output tray and a flatbed scanner/copier on top. It is only available colour in black with a 10.9cm Colour LCD touch-screen for managing print jobs, the printer itself measures 494mmx412.8mmx315mm ((WxDxH)  with a weight of 12.65kg.
 
Main Printer Advantages
 
HP Officejet Pro 8660 Plus has a fast printing speed of 20 mono ppm and 16 colour ppm, this machine is capable of automatic double sided printing which as well as saving paper saves time when printing long multi-paged documents. The print quality is also an asset of the 8600 Plus with printing possible at resolutions up to 4800 x 1200dpi, quality which rivals any colour laser printer. Additionally there is an energy saving mode on the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus to reduce energy consumption to just 6.63watts when not being used.
 
Main Printer Disadvantages
 
Probably the worst feature about the 8600 plus is the size. For a home printer it has quite a large footprint and weighs more than others available thanks to the 50 sheet ADF. In addition, although the touch-screen is large it is not very sensitive making navigating though the menu difficult at time.
 
Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?
 
Yes, we think the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus does have good running costs especially when using our high capacity, great quality recycled inkjet cartridges. Buying original HP inks will cost more and increase the amount you are spending on running your printer, but using our high capacity IJT branded inks should keep your running costs down.
