What printer cartridges does the Epson Expression Premium XP-710 use?

The Epson Expression Premium XP-710 takes Epson 26 inks which have a polar bear on the Epson retail packaging. Each set has 5 cartridges; Photo Black, Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow which are available in a standard and a high capacity, our IJT branded inks are available in the high capacity 27XL. The standard black and photo black inks can print up to 220 pages each and the colours can print up to 300 pages compared to the high capacity 27XL blacks inks which can print up to 500 prints each and the colours up to 700 pages. This is based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

Our in-house printer experts here at IJT believe the Epson Expression Premium XP-710 is an great all round printer, it produces excellent quality text and photo prints (capable of achieving resolutions up to 5760 x 1440dpi) and has 3 functions all in a compact design. The XP-710 has a range of connectivity options and mobile printing support allowing printing from all most anywhere via Epson Connect, Google Cloud Print and Apple AirPrint as well as others.

Our thoughts on Design

The Epson Expression XP 710 has simplistic black case; on the front is a tilting panel with a 8.8cm LCD touch screen to be used for managing current and queued print jobs. For media handling there is 2 paper trays; 1 input tray with a capacity of 100 sheets and a separate dedicated photo paper tray which can hold up to 20 sheets, in addition there is a CD/DVD drive for printing directly onto discs.

Main Printer Advantages

The XP710 has many impressive features, firstly despite the high print quality the XP-710 can still produce prints quickly at speeds of up to 32 prints per minute in both mono and colours modes. Another great feature is the presence of 2 paper trays, this means you can seamlessly switch between text and photo printing without having to change the media, the XP-710 can also automatically duplex print which saves paper and makes creating double sided prints effortless, the large touch screen display also makes printer management easy and simple.

Main Printer Disadvantages

One feature missing from the Epson Expression Premium XP-710 is an Automatic document feeder, this means that any multipage scanning jobs have to be manually loaded into the print 1 sheet at a time. There is also no fax function with this printer; it is just a 3 in 1 multifunction.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?

Overall we think the Expression Premium XP-710 does have good running costs, the individual colour inks mean this printer is a lot cheaper to run that other budget multifunction printers which rely on a 2 ink system with a tri-colour cartridge. You can reduce these costs further by using our recycled IJT-branded cartridges which are a lot cheaper compared to original Epson inks.
