What printer cartridges does the Brother MFC-J870DW use?

The Brother MFC J870DW uses IJT Direct compatible Brother LC121 and LC123 cartridges, each set contains 4 cartridges; Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. The standard LC121 inks can print up to 300 pages each whereas the high capacity LC123 cartridges can print up to 600 pages; our IJT- branded cartridges are available in the high capacity. This is based on 5% coverage on an A4 page.

The MFC J870 DW has 4 in 1 functionality and USB, Network and wireless connectivity as well as mobile printing compatibility through apps such as Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print.

Our thoughts on Design

The MFC-J870DW comes in black with a flatbed scanner and front facing control panel featuring a 6.8cm colour LCD screen with touch sensitive buttons. For paper handling there is a 100 sheet input tray with an integrated photo paper tray capable of holding up to 20 sheets. As well as the ability to automatically duplex the Brother MFC-J870DW has a 20 sheet ADF great for multipage scanning jobs.

Main Printer Advantages

One great feature of the MFC-J870DW is the printing speeds which are very fast capable of printing up to 33 mono prints per minute and 27 colour ppm, even the photo printing is fast especially for a non-dedicated photo printer with speeds of 11ppm mono and 6ppm colour. The Brother MFC-J870DW can print directly onto CD/DVDs and can function as a standalone copier or fax machine without the need for a connected device.   

Main Printer Disadvantages

The main limiting feature of the Brother MFC-J870DW is the paper tray capacity as it can hold 100 sheets at a time the tray will have to keep being refilled with average use, there is also no option to increase this capacity with extra trays and the output tray capacity is only 50 sheets.
