What printer cartridges does the Canon Maxify MB2150 use?

The Canon Maxify MB2150 takes Canon PGI-1500 which is a 4 ink system comprising of; Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. The standard Black cartridge can print up to 400 pages and each of the colours can print up to 300 pages. These are also high capacity cartridges known as PGI-1500XL which our IJT-branded cartridges are available in, the black can print up to 1200 pages, the cyan 1020 pages, the magenta 780 pages and the yellow 935 pages. This is based on 5% coverage on an A4 page. These numbers are based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

This entry level inkjet machine is easy to use and comes with all the features expected of the modern multifunction inkjet; print, scan, copy, and fax functions as well as wireless connectivity.

Our thoughts on Design

The Canon MB2150 is available in the standard Canon black design, the control panel for managing print jobs is smartly set into scanner lid and tilted upwards for easy viewing, it features a 6.2xm LCD display with corresponding push buttons. The main paper input cassette can hold up to 250 sheets of plain paper as well as photo paper of various standard and custom sizes, as well as this there is a 50 sheet capacity ADF integrated into the top of the flatbed scanner.

Main Printer Advantages

The fast print speeds are a great feature of the Canon MB 2150; it can produce up to 19 mono prints per minute and 13 prints in colour mode, considering this the print and copies produced are of great quality. The Maxify MB2150 has plenty of connectivity options, as well as USB and Wireless you can upload documents to cloud services like Google Drive, Dropbox and print from other mobile devices though Apple AirPrint, Mopria and the Canon PRINT app. 

Main Printer Disadvantages

The MB2150 is quite large compared to other competing mid range multifunction inkjets, it has dimensions of 463 x 389 x 260 mm (WxDxH) mainly due to the 250 sheet paper capacity. Another slight downside to the Canon MB2150 is the paper handling can be a fiddly, every time you remove the paper tray even just to refill you have to reset the inputted paper criteria. Also despite producing good photo prints there is no borderless printing mode, a feature that is found in lots of other multifunction inkjets.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?

The Canon Maxify MB2150 can have vastly reduced running costs; the original Canon Inks can cost a lot, especially if you are printing high volumes.
