What printer cartridges does the Brother DCP-L3510CDW use?

The Brother DCP-L3510CDW takes Brother TN-243 and TN-247 toner cartridges. Each set has 4 colours; black, cyan, magenta and yellow with 2 capacities of each available. The standard TN-243 toners can each print up to 1000 pages whereas each the high capacity black TN-247 toner can print up to 3000 pages and the colours up to 2300 pages, our IJT branded toners are available in both capacities. These numbers are based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

The Brother DCP L3510CDW is a great all round home office printer according to the IJT printer experts. This entry level LED laser comes with all the great advantages of laser printing without the high initial printer cost, the print output quality is excellent and both the scan and copy are more than adequate for any home user.

Our thoughts on Design

Like the other printers in the brother multifunction LED laser range the DCPL3510 CDW has an off white case with a flatbed scanner on the top, the user interface differs from the other models being a small 2 line matrix LCD display which can be used to manage printer jobs. For paper handling there is a 250 sheet input tray and a single sheet manual feed slot for specialty media. 

Main Printer Advantages

One bonus of the Brother DCP L3510 is its price; it is very affordable compared to other multifunction lasers whilst still having a few additional features such as automatic duplex printing which saves paper as well as making creating double sided prints effortless. There are plenty of connectivity options with the DCP-L3510CDW beyond standard USB and wireless; it is compatible with mobile printing from both android and iOS devices through applications such as Apple AirPrint, Brother iPrint&Scan and Mopria. Finally the DCP-L3510cdw has great printing and scanning speeds aswell as a large paper tray which eliminates the need to keep refilling the paper tray.

Main Printer Disadvantages

For a printer aimed at home use the Brother DCP-L3510CDW is quite large the dimensions are 510 x 475 x 368 mm (WxDxH) and it weighs over 20kg, so it isn’t a small discrete machine. Also although the scanner is great quality the DCP-L3510CDW has no ADF which means scanning long multipage documents is very time consuming, especially if they are double sided. Lastly the Brother DCP-L3510CDW is not suitable for printing pictures as the colour definition isn’t sharp enough, something to be considered for some home users.
