For example, it’s our first dedicated activity tracker to offer VO2 max estimate. It can even estimate your fitness age, which you may be able to decrease over time with hard work and regular exercise.
All-day Stress Tracking
vívosmart 3 tracks your heart rate beat by beat, known as heart rate variability (HRV). You can look at this graph right on your device anytime you’re sitting or at rest.
When the level starts to move up, it indicates that your stress is getting higher. What causes this? Any number of physical or emotional external sources. vívosmart 3 helps you recognise when this is happening so you can find a way to relieve the stress.
Automatic Activity Tracking

Gym rats, rejoice. We’re adding a companion to your workout, or more specifically, a companion that’s great at keeping count. When you start a strength training activity on vívosmart 3, the device will capture your exercises, reps and sets along with your work and rest times so you can leave the notebook at home.
That data gets pushed to Garmin Connect during your next sync so you can review your workout in even greater detail.

To help keep up with your busy lifestyle, you can view emails, text
messages and social network notifications right on your wrist.

Our Expert review of the Garmin Vivosmart 3 Smart Fitness Tracker
What we think of the design:
The manufacturer refurbished Garmin Vivosmart 3 activity tracker is less watch-like than smart watches from Samsung or Apple, it’s plain and neat and tidy without any flashiness. It’s also purple, but not obnoxiously bright and the wrist band is Garmins Small to Medium. No buttons on the side either, everything is operated directly from the screen.
What’s good about it?
Garmin certainly packed in as many features as they possibly could in the Vivosmart3. A heart rate monitor, auto activity tracking, VO2 max, fitness age and strength training to name just a few. On top of that when you wear the Garmin fitness tracker you won’t miss any notifications unlike a lot of similarly priced and cheaper devices. It can also be warn safely when swimming and showering and possibly the best part, it has up to 5 day battery life.
Are there any drawbacks?
No interchangeable straps and therefore no choice of strap length out of the box. That’s probably our biggest issue with Garmin on the Vivosmart3. This particular iteration has a small to medium strap length, so if you have larger wrists you’ll likely struggle to do this up properly.
Are there alternative products available?
Just like with smart watches, there are so many different options for fitness trackers that suit all budgets are requirements.
