Here at IJT Direct our printer experts think that the Brother DCP J562DW is a great home inkjet printer; it is easy to set up and use with a smart compact design. This printer produces excellent prints with resolutions up to 6000 x 1200dpi aswell as having the ability to copy and scan documents.

Our thoughts on Design

The Brother DCP J562DW is available in black, has a footprint of 400mmx341mmx151mm (WxDxH) and a total weight of 7.2kg making it perfect for fitting into most home spaces. Despite the small size of the DCP J562DW it has print, scan and copying functions as well as 2 media handling trays; one 100 sheet standard input tray and a 20 sheet capacity photo paper tray. The front of the machine has a 6.8cm colour LCD touch screen and a control panel with additional buttons for easy navigation though the printer’s menus.

Main Printer Advantages

Despite its compact design and reasonable price the DCP-J562DW has plenty of extra features which make it stand out, for example it can automatically duplex print which not only saves paper but makes multi-page printing much easier. This machine can also create borderless prints and has multiple compatible media types and sizes for which the DCP J562DW has a dedicated special media tray. Along with the 3 ways to connect to this printer the photo capture centre also allows you to print directly from/scan directly to memory cards.

Main Printer Disadvantages

The main drawback to the Brother DCP-J562DW is its printing speed, the speeds are estimated at up to 11ipm for mono and 6ipm for colour prints. There is a fast mode which can be initiated to increase the print speed but this impacts the quality of the prints produced. Even in standard mode the DCP-J562DW printer is not a good option for creating photo prints as the colour prints can lack saturation.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?
