What printer cartridges does the Canon Pixma MG6650 use?

The Canon Pixma MG6650 uses Canon PGI-550 and CLI-551 inks each set comprises of Pigment Black, Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow which are all available in standard and high capacities. The standard PGI-550PGBK pigment black can print up to 300 pages, the CLI-551 black up to 495 pages and the CLI-551 colours up to 330 pages each. Our IJT branded inks are available in the high capacity, the pigment black PGI-550XL can print up to 500 pages, the black CLI-551XL up to 1125 pages and each of the colours can print up to 685 pages. This is based on 5% coverage on an A4 page.

The Canon Pixma MG6650 is a high performing all in one printer which is perfect for home use; it has print, copy and fax functions all of which produce excellent quality results. The Pixma MG6650 has endless connectivity options with support for NFC mobile pairing and other cloud based apps via PIXMA Cloud Link.

Our thoughts on Design

The MG6650 is a typical box shaped printer with rounded corners and a CIS flatbed photo and document scanner on the top, in the centre of the front panel is a large 7.5cm colour touch screen for print job management and previews. As for paper handling there is a 100 sheet capacity input tray which can also hold up to 20 sheets of photo paper, the output tray pulls out to keep the printer dimensions small when not in use. Neatly hidden to the left of the output tray is an SD and memory card slot for printing directly from or scanning to connected memory devices. 

Main Printer Advantages

A great additional feature of the Canon Pixma MG6650 is automatic duplex printing which not only reduces paper consumption but makes producing double sided prints effortless. The MG6650 has excellent quality printed outputs thanks to the 5 individual ChromaLife 100+ inks; it can print resolution up to 4800 x 1200dpi. The wide range of connectivity options is another benefit to the MG6650, as well as wireless it can connect to both iOS and android mobile devices which makes printing from almost anywhere possible. 

Main Printer Disadvantages

The Pixma MG6650 does have some limiting features; the paper handling is very basic with a capacity of just 100 sheets of plain paper in the input tray, also the output put is poorly designed, it is too short to catch all print outs and as a result they spill over into the input tray. Despite having an SD and memory card slot there is no port which allows you to print directly from a standard USB thumb drive.
