What printer cartridges does the Canon Pixma TS6051use?

The Canon Pixma TS6051 takes PGI-570 and CLI-571 inks which are available in standard and high capacities, each set comprises of 5 cartridges; 2 blacks, cyan, magenta and yellow. The standard PGI-570 black cartridge can print up to 300 pages, the CLI-571 black up to 376 pages and each of the CLI-571 colours can print up to 345 pages. Our IJT branded cartridges are available in the high capacity inks; each PGI-570XL black has a page yield of 500 pages, the CLI-572XL black 680 pages and each of the CLI-571XL colours a page yield up to 680 pages. This is based on 5% coverage on an A4 page.

The Canon Pixma TS6051 is an ideal home printer according to our in-house printer experts here at IJT Direct. It is capable of printing both high quality documents and images at resolutions up to 4800x1200dpi. Being an all in one the TS6051 combines print, scan and copy functions into one compact machine.

Our thoughts on Design

The Canon TS6051 is available in white, black and grey, each printer has an easy to use adjustable 7.5cm touch screen on a front panel for managing print jobs. As well as the front paper tray which can hold up to 100 sheets of plain paper, there is a rear tray for up to 20 sheets of photo paper. On top of the TS6051 is a CIS flatbed photo and document scanner, it is seamlessly integrated into the printer keeping the overall dimensions to just 372 x 315 x 139 mm (WxDxH) and the weight 6.2Kg.

Main Printer Advantages

For a simple multifunction printer the TS6051 has a great range of connectivity options plus standard USB and wireless it supports the Canon PRINT app as well as other mobile printing applications and cloud services (Google Cloud Print and Apple AirPrint). Another selling point of the Canon Pixma TS6051 is its simplicity, the single home screen can be navigated by touch and there are no sub menus making printer management very easy. The TS6051 also has some extra features including automatic duplex printing and borderless photo printing.

Main Printer Disadvantages

The stand out limiting aspect of the Canon Pixma TS6051 is the printing speeds; they are quite slow at just 15ipm for mono printing and 10ipm for colour. Also this printer may be too basic for some users, it is lacking an ADF which is crucial for people who have lots of multi-page scanning jobs, and there is also no direct disc printing.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?

Overall yes we think the Canon Pixma TS6051 has very affordable running costs, the individual colours inks reduce ink waste and are more cost effective compared to 2 ink system inkjet printers.  You can reduce these running costs further by using our recycled ink cartridges which will cost a lot less to replace compared to original canon cartridges.
