What printer cartridges does the Canon Pixma TS6150 use?

The Canon Pixma TS6150 uses IJT branded PGI-580 and CLI-581 cartridges, the pigment black cartridge is available in standard (PGI-580), high (PGI-580XL) and extra high capacity (PGI-580XXL), the Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow cartridges are available in standard (CLI-581) and high capacity (CLI-581XL) with our IJT branded cartridges are available in the high capacities.  The standard pigment black can print up to 200 pages, the black up to 750 pages and each of the standard capacity colours can print up to 259 pages. The high capacity pigment black can print up to 400 pages and the extra high capacity up to 600 pages. Each of the high capacity colours can print up to 830 pages and the black up to 4590 pages. This is based on 5% coverage on an A4 page.

Our thoughts on Design

Available in black the Canon PIXMA TS 6150 is extremely compact with a footprint of just 372 x 315 x 139 mm (WxDxH) and a weight of 6.2kg. There is a tilting front panel which features a 7.5’ colour touch screen which mirrors the canon print app allowing for seamless control of printing jobs. As well as a front cassette which can hold up to 100 sheets of plain paper there is a rear tray for photo paper with a capacity of 20 sheets. Incorporated into the printer is a CIS flatbed photo and document scanner.

Main Printer Advantages

The print quality is a great feature of the TS6150, it is capable of printing at resolutions up to 4800x1200dpi creating outstanding results from both photo and document printing. As well as wireless connectivity the TS6150 can connect via Bluetooth and various other mobile printing applications such as PIXMA cloud link, Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print.

Main Printer Disadvantages

One feature missing from the Canon TS 6150 is an ADF, so multi-page scanning jobs will take longer and require constant attention. What could be a disadvantage to the Canon PIXMA TS 6150 is that the pigment black ink is expensive compared to the other cartridges, this means printing lots of documents will costs more than from other all-in-one inkjets available.   

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?

Overall we think the Canon TS6150 does have good running costs despite the pricey pigment black ink, you can combat these high prices by using our superior quality IJT-branded inkjet which are available at great prices, even the pigment black. Using original Canon cartridges will cost more and increase the price of running your printer even when using the high capacity cartridges.
