What printer cartridges does the Canon Pixma TS8051 use?

The Canon Pixma TS8051 uses Canon PGI-570 and CLI-571 inks; they are available in a standard and high capacity cartridge with our IJT branded inks available in the high capacity. A set comprises of a pigment black, black, cyan, magenta, yellow and grey ink. The standard PGI-570 Black can print up to 300 pages, the CLI-571 black up to 376 photos, the cyan, magenta and yellow can each print up to 347 pages and the grey up to 125 photos. The yields for the high capacity inks are as follows; PGI-570XL black up to 500 pages, CLI-571XL black up to 895 photos, cyan, magenta and yellow up to 680 pages each and the grey up to 289 pages. These numbers are based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

The Canon Pixma TS8051 is an excellent multifunction printer with especially impressive photo print quality according to the IJT Direct printer experts, the 6 ink system and enhanced print head technology are responsible for the excellent colour images and photos produced by the TS8051; it can print resolutions up to 9600 x 2600dpi.

Our thoughts on Design

The Canon Pixma TS8051 is the white model in that particular printer series. The main design feature is a large 10.8cm colour touch screen on a front facing tilted panel; this can be used to manage all printer jobs. The TS8051 has a dual paper feeder; the front cassette has a capacity of 100 sheets of plain paper and the rear fed photo paper tray can hold up to 20 sheets, it can also print directly onto discs.

Main Printer Advantages

Despite being a basic printer with 3 in 1 functionality the TS8051 has plenty of extra features such as borderless 10x15cm photo printing, direct disc printing and automatic duplexing which saves paper and allows the user to create double sided prints with no input. As well as this the TS8051 has exhaustive connectivity options; USB, wireless, mobile printing support (Canon PRINT app), NFC connectivity and both SD and USB thumb drives ports on the front of the printer. Finally the dual paper feeder means there is no need to replace the input media when switching between plain and photo paper, this is ideal for someone who does a lot of both types of printing. 

Main Printer Disadvantages

The printing speeds of the Canon Pixma TS 8051 are less impressive than the print quality; it can only print up to15 mono ipm and 10 colours, this slow speed is down to the high quality of prints produced. Another downside is the inks refills can be quite expensive as there are 6 individual cartridges.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?

However overall we think the Canon Pixma TS8051 has very affordable running costs as the individual colours inks reduce ink waste and are more cost effective compared to 2 ink system inkjet printers. You can reduce these running costs further by using our recycled ink cartridges which will cost a lot less to replace compared to original canon cartridges.
