What printer cartridges does the Epson EcoTank ET-2650 use?

The Epson EcoTank ET-2650 takes Epson 664 ink bottles, each set comprises of a Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow ink. The 664 ink bottles are only available in one capacity; the black ink bottle can print up to 4000 pages and each of the colours can print up to 6500 pages. This is based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

Our expert analysis & summary:

The Epson ET2650 is a great light-duty home use printer according to our printer experts. There are plentiful connectivity options including the standard options as well as mobile printing support through applications such as Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and Epson Connect. Most importantly the EcoTank ET-2650 produces excellent quality prints; it can achieve resolutions up to 5760x1440dpi. 

Our thoughts on Design

The EcoTank ET-2650 is a compact, simple, easy to use ink tank printer; the front of the printer has a tilted panel featuring a 1.4’ LCD colour screen with arrow keys and ok button for navigation, beside this is an SD card slot for external memory devices. For paper handling there is a 100 sheet capacity paper input tray and a 30 sheet capacity output tray onto which printed pages fall, this can be folded back to reduce the printer footprint when not in use. While you would traditional lift the top cover to swap out an empty cartridge, there are 4 separate tanks on the side of the printer for each colour.

Main Printer Advantages

The main selling point to the Epson ET 2650 is the extremely low running costs thanks to the high yield ink bottles; this printer also displays the ink levels so you never run out. Other attractive features are the simple control panel which is easy to use and the overall print quality, there is also an SD card slot from which you can print directly from and scan to.

Main Printer Disadvantages

The EcoTank ET2650 is a very basic machine; there is no automatic duplex feature so to achieve a double sided print the paper has to be manually turned, there is also no ADF so any multi-page scanning jobs will again have to be manually loaded page by page. There is also very limited paper input capacity which makes this unsuitable for lots of use as the paper tray will have to be regularly refilled.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?

The Epson EcoTank 2650 has excellent running costs, firstly having 4 individual colour ink tanks means there is little ink waste compared to with a tri-colour cartridge, this saves money. As well as this the cartridges have very high print page capacities so they don’t need to be replaced often keeping the costs down. You can still use our IJT branded recycled cartridges to reduce these costs even further, they are available at the same high capacities but a lower price compared to the original Epson cartridges. Remember buy from IJT, the best printer ink in Britain!
