What printer ink does the Epson Eco Tank ET-4550 use?

The Epson-EcoTank 4550 uses ink bottles rather than cartridges; you pour the ink directly into the ink chamber in the printer. This one uses 4 separate colours of ink comprising of Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow, they are known as T774 black and T664 colours. The black ink bottles can produce up to 6,000 pages and each of coloured bottles can do up to 6,500 pages. This is based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

Our team of experts here at IJT Direct would recommend the Epson ET4550 for a small office or home users.  It uses Epson’s bottled ink so you don’t need cartridges you can just top up the chamber with the ink colour you need. With an image resolution of 4,800x1,200 dpi this printer can produce lovely coloured photos as well as sharp text prints.

Our thoughts on Design

The Epson 4550 was released in black and its size comes in at 515x360x241mm; it’s slightly larger than most inkjet printers as it has the ink chambers on the side of the printer. This model also has a 30 sheet ADF as well as a flatbed scanner for scanning, copying and faxing; its front feeding paper tray can hold 150 sheets of copier paper. There is a 5.6cm monochrome display screen on the front of the printer to help the user select the function needed easily.

Main Printer Advantages

The Eco Tank 4550 is very economic as you are wasting less plastic using ink bottles rather than cartridges, you can also use the auto duplex print function to use less paper. This printer can take the following paper sizes A4, A5, A6, B5, C6, DL, No.10, 9x13cm, 10x15cm, 13x18cm 13x20cm, 20x25cm and 100x148mm. Multiple users can connect to this printer as it has many connection options including USB, WIFI,WIFI Direct, Ethernet, Epson Connect, Apple Air Print and Google Cloud Print.

 

Main Printer Disadvantages

The Eco Tank-4550 could have better print speeds; it can print up to 30 pages per minute monochrome and 13.7 pages per minute for colour on plain 75gsm paper. But when using the auto duplex function this does drop to 6.5 pages per minute monochrome and 4.5 pages per minute for colour- you can only use copier paper for this function too.
