What printer cartridges does the Epson Expression Home XP-247 use?

The Epson Expression Home XP-247 uses Epson 29 inks which have a strawberry on the original Epson packaging, there are four individual cartridges; Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. These are available in standard (29) and high capacity (29XL) with our IJT Direct ink available in the high capacity. The standard cartridges can print up to 180 pages each whereas the high capacity 29XL inks can print up to 470 for the black and 450 pages for the colours inks. This is based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

The quality of prints it produces is great for an inkjet all-in-one, it can achieve a maximum resolution of 5760 x 1440dpi thanks to the combination of Epson’s Micro Piezo print heads and the Claria Home Ink.

Our thoughts on Design

The XP-247 comes in white, has compact dimensions of 390 x 300 x 145 mm (W x D x H) and a weight under 4kg. This printer has 1 rear fed paper input tray which can hold up to 50 sheets of standard a4 paper or 10 sheets of photo paper and a flatbed CIS scanner. For managing print jobs there is a control panel on the front of the expression home XP-247 with a series of buttons for easy control of the 3 printer functions; print, scan and copy.

Main Printer Advantages

For a home multifunction printer the print speeds of the XP-247 are fast when compared to other similar printers, it can produce up to 27 mono pages per minute, 15 colour pages per minute and takes just 38 seconds per 10x15cm photo, impressive for a non-dedicated photo printer. As well as USB and wireless connectivity the Epson XP-247 is also compatible with various mobile and cloud printing services though Epson Connect.

Main Printer Disadvantages

Some missing features of the XP 247 are fax, ADF and it can only manually duplex print, this means that double sided printing or multi-page scanning jobs will take more attention than if it was automatic. Also many other basic all-in-one inkjets have a touch screen LCD screen for managing print jobs which the expression home XP-247 is missing.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?
