What printer cartridges does the Epson Expression Home XP-405WH use?

The Epson Expression Home XP-405Wh takes Epson 18 inks; all of these cartridges have a daisy on the Epson retail packaging. Each set has a Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow cartridge available in a standard and high capacity; our IJT branded inks are available in the high capacity. In the standard 18 range the black can print up to 175 pages and each of the colours up to 180 pages whereas the high capacity 18XL black can print up to 470 pages and each of the colours up to 450 pages. This is based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

Our thoughts on Design

As mentioned the Epson XP405 Wh is extremely compact, the white case has a tilting front panel which houses a 6.3cm LCD screen next to a touch panel of 11 buttons for managing all printer jobs. Also present on the front is a single slot for SD and MemoryStick cards which can be used alongside the USB and wireless connectivity options to print from, the single rear feeding input tray can hold up to 100 sheets of plain paper or up to 20 sheets of photo paper and the output tray is retractable to keep the printer footprint small when not in use.

Main Printer Advantages

The Epson Expression Home XP405Wh is undoubtedly an excellent machine for the low initial cost, despite being a budget printer the print quality is still good; it is capable of print outputs of resolutions up to 5760 x 1440dpi. The colour smart-navigation touch screen display is very sleek and makes controlling printer jobs effortless; additionally the print speeds are very respectable for such a budget machine, it can print up to up 33 mono pages per minute and 15 colour at its fastest.

Main Printer Disadvantages

Although the XP-405Wh has all the basic functions of an all in one printer it is missing quite a few features that would come with a higher priced machine, the paper capacity is also quite small and just a single tray so any change of media or high print loads will require refilling of the paper tray. The Epson Expression Home XP-405WH can only manually duplex print, so to achieve a double sided print out you have to turn and reload each page.
