What printer cartridges does the Epson Expression Premium XP-720 use?

The Epson XP-720 takes Epson 26 inks, these cartridges have an image of a Polar Bear on the original Epson packaging with each set comprising of 5 inks; Black, Photo Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow,. These cartridges come in a standard and high capacity, our IJT branded inks are available in the high capacity known as 26XL. The standard black and photo black inks can print up to 220 pages each and the colours can print up to 300 pages whereas the high capacity blacks can print up to 500 prints each and the colours up to 700 pages. This is based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

Our thoughts on Design

The Expression Premium XP 720 comes in black with a 10.9cm colour touch screen display on a tilted front panel to be used for print job management. There are 2 paper trays; the main input tray can hold up to 100 sheets of plain paper and the secondary tray up to 20 sheets of photo paper, there is also a rear specialty media feed. The Epson XP 720 is compact and light weight with overall dimensions of 390 x 341 x 141 mm (WxDxH) and weighs less than 7kg.

Main Printer Advantages

A great feature of the Expression Premium XP-720 is its connectivity options, as well as the standard USB and wireless options there is also support for a range of mobile and cloud printing services including Epson Connect, Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print. The printing speeds for the XP-720 are quick in both mono and colour printing modes reaching speeds up to 32 prints per minute; additionally the Epson Expression Premium XP-720 has an automatic duplexer which saves paper.

Main Printer Disadvantages

One of the disadvantages of the XP-720 is there is no automatic document feeder; this would allow the printer to scan multipage print jobs independently without any user input. Because the Epson Expression Premium XP-720 is designed towards photo and graphic printing, the quality and speed of text prints are below that of other similar machines.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?

Overall we think the Expression Premium XP-720 has great running costs, the individual colour inks mean this printer is a lot cheaper to run that other budget multifunction printers which rely on a 2 ink system with a tri-colour cartridge. You can keep these costs even lower by using our recycled IJT-branded cartridges which are a lot cheaper compared to original Epson inks.
