What printer cartridges does the Epson Expression Premium XP-960 use?
 
The Epson XP 960 uses a six individual inkjet system and will accept our own IJT Direct branded ink cartridges. Printer ink for the Epson Expression Premium XP960 comprises of black, cyan, magenta, yellow, light cyan and light magenta cartridges. There are both standard capacity and high capacity available. Epson have branded these as 24 and 24XL. On the Epson OEM packaging you will find an elephant. The standard cap 24 black can print up to 240 pages and the colours can do up to 360 pages. The high capacity 24XL inks can print up to 500 pages from the black and 740 pages from each colour. This is based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

Our thoughts on Design

We think the Epson XP-960 looks small for an A3 printer but it’s packed with functions with dimensions of 479 x 356 x 148mm.  It features a very smart 4.3" touchscreen with gesture navigation on the front of the machine.

Main Printer Advantages
 
With a print resolution of 5,760 x 1,400 dpi and Epson’s HD ink range you can create beautiful sharp pictures in the comfort of your own home. This machine can print on a wide variety of media types up to A3 and can even do disc printing too. Even though this machine has been made with photographers in mind it can also benefit general printing with 100 sheet input tray and automatic duplex printing.

Main Printer Disadvantages
 
The 960 won’t scan or copy larger than A4 so it wouldn’t suit everybody’s needs. It also has no ADF so it would be time consuming when doing large copy jobs.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?

Our IJT Direct printer experts believe the Epson Expression Premium XP 960 printer, in the grand scheme of things, has manageable running cost. What can’t be forgotten is that it takes 6, not 5 individual inks, but that is a trade off to get brilliant photo prints.
