What printer cartridges does the Epson Workforce WF-3640DTWF use?

The Epson WorkForce WF-3640DTWF uses a 4 ink system of Epson 27 inks which comprise of Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow cartridges. The Epson retail packing has an image of a clock on the front. These inks come in both standard and high capacity cartridges with our IJT branded inks available in the high capacity. The standard inks can print up to 300 pages from each of the colours and 350 pages from the black cartridge whereas the high capacity 27XL inks can print up to 1100 pages each cartridge. This is based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

This printer has plenty of extra features including an automatic duplex which can be used across of 4 of the printer’s functions; print, scan, copy and fax.  The WF-3640DTWF creates excellent quality prints capable of printing at resolutions up to 4800 x 2400dpi.

Our thoughts on Design

The Epson WF 3640 DTWF comes in black with an 8.8cm colour touch screen and other button on control panel for managing printer jobs. This machine has 2 paper input trays which each have a capacity of up to 250 sheets making a total paper handling capacity of 500 sheets. As well as these 2 trays there is a single sheet rear loading paper feeder for specialty media and a 35 sheet ADF to be used when scanning multi-page documents.

Main Printer Advantages

One excellent feature of the Epson WF3640 is its paper handling, with 2 trays, a capacity of 500 sheets and a specialty paper feeder the printer can hold up to 3 different types of media at the same time, meaning you can seamlessly print onto different media without needed to change any of the paper. The Workforce WF-3640DTWF also has multiple different connection options beyond just USB and Wireless, there is support for mobile and cloud printing directly from mobile or tablet device through Epson connect. You can also print directly from memory devices; the WF3640DTWF has ports for SD, Micro SD and USB sticks.

Main Printer Disadvantages

Despite as having excellent print quality the speed of printing by Epson Workforce WF-3640DTWF could be limiting, for a multifunction inkjet of this price the speeds of 19 mono ppm and 10 colour ppm are not slow, but they might not be good enough for use within some businesses. Also the quality of graphics prints is not as high as texts prints and although there are 3 paper trays there is no support for larger than A4 media, another factor which could be limiting in some business.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?
