What printer cartridges does the HP Envy 5540 e-All-in-One use?

The HP Envy 5540e All in One inkjet printer uses the HP 62 ink cartridges. IJT Direct’s branded inks come in black & tri colour 62 and also the high capacity 62XL. The standard 62s can print up to 200 pages from black and 165 pages from colour where as the high capacity version can print 600 pages from black and 415 pages from the tri colour cartridge. These numbers are based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

Our thoughts on Design:

The HP 5540 e is finished in black and features a flatbed scanner on top for your scanning and copying. It has a neat 125 sheet front loading paper tray for both plain paper and photo paper in keeping with its space saving design. This all in one printer comes in at only 454x410x161mm and weighs just over 6.8kg. This printer has a handy LED backlit touch screen control panel on the front to navigate different printer options.

Main Printer Advantages:

The HP 5540 e All in One has a colour print resolution of up to 4800x1200 dpi so you can produce excellent quality pictures with ease. It also takes a wide range of media types including photo paper, card, envelopes and labels. You can save more money by using the duplex feature, meaning you can print on both sides of the paper you are using. Another great thing is you can print from multiple devices including: USB, WIFI, HP E-print, and Apple AirPrint. It’s also Mopria certified.

Main Printer Disadvantages:

The Envy 5540 is rather slow when doing duplex printing at a maximum of just 8 pages per minute. This model also does not have an automatic document feeder so scanning or copying multiple documents could become quite a tedious process.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?

We think the HP Envy 5540e could have better running costs. As this machine uses a 2 ink system they tend to be more expensive to run, especially with the tri colour cartridge as if you run out of a colour you need to replace the whole cartridge.
