The HP Envy 7640 e-All-in-One takes IJT branded HP 62 cartridges as a 2 in system consisting of a black and tri-colour cartridge available in both the standard 62 and high capacity 62XL. Our IJT-branded cartridges come in the XL high capacity. Each standard black can print up to 200 pages and each tri-colour up to 165 pages, whereas the high capacity black can print up to 600 pages and the tri-colour 62XL up to 415 pages. This is based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

According to our IJT printer experts the HP 7640 e All in One is an accomplished home office printer, a perfect fit for a home user or small business. This HP uses thermal inkjet technology for printing which creates superior quality text capable of printing resolutions up to 4800x1200dpi. You can perform any of the Envy 7640 4 functions through a range of connectivity options allowing multiple devices and different users to be connected at the same time.

For managing printer jobs the Hp Envy 7640 eAll-in-One has a responsive 3.5’’ colour touch screen display with a single-touch button on the front tilted panel.  There is also an integrated flatbed scanner on top which can scan up to a4 size and has an associated 25 sheet automatic document feeder. There are twin paper trays; 1 input tray with a capacity of 125 sheets and a 15 sheet photo paper tray both compatible with paper, envelopes and labels across a range of media sizes. 

The most impressive aspect of the Envy 7640 is the print quality; thanks to the thermal inkjet technology the text prints produced are of laser quality. The Envy 7640 is capable of automatic duplex printing which reduces paper consumption by allowing the user the option of printing single sided or double sided. The affordability of this printer is surprising considering the features above both the ADF which simplifies multi-page scanning jobs and dual paper trays. You can also print directly from a USB memory stick or SD card as well as through the standard Ethernet, USB and wireless connection options.

The main drawback to the HP Envy 7640 is the size. It’s quite a sizeable printer with a large footprint, even for a multifunction inkjet. It has dimensions of 454 x 193 x 410 mm (WxDxH) and a weight of 7.67kg. The photo printing quality is also sub-standard and cheaper dedicated photo printers can achieve much better prints.

The HP 7640 e-All-in-One isn’t the most expensive inkjet printer to hit the market but because it uses a single black and tri-colour cartridge it certainly could be cheaper to run. This is down to the tri-colour cartridge which wastes a lot of ink as it has to be replaced when any one of the colours runs out. Using original HP inks you will find you are spending a lot more to frequently replace these cartridges; you can keep these costs down by using our excellent quality IJT-branded recycled inkjets.
