What printer cartridges does the Hewlett Packard OfficeJet Pro 7720 use?

The HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 uses HP 953 ink cartridges as a 4 ink system. These are individual Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow coming in both standard and high capacity with our IJT Direct branded inks available in the higher capacity. HP 953 standard inks can print up to 1000 pages from the black cartridge and 700 from the colour cartridge, whereas the high capacity inks can print up the 1600 each per cartridge. This is based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

Our thoughts on Design

The OfficeJet Pro 7720 is available in white with a patterned grey strip across the front; this strip has a 6.75cm LCD colour touch screen for managing print jobs which can tilt for easy viewing. The input tray of the HP 7720 can hold up to 250 sheets of plain A4 paper aswell as other media sizes and types, there is also a flatbed scanner with a 35 sheet ADF which would speed up any multipage document tasks.

Main Printer Advantages

Despite the OfficeJet Pro 7720’s fast speeds the prints produced are of professional quality which rivals the finish that can be achieved by small laser printers. The 7720 can produce a

a first page in as quick as 9 seconds with a maximum print resolution is 1200 x 1200dpi and the scans are also quick at up to 18cpm. Even the speed of the auto duplex feature which usually slows down printing is fast compared to other machines; it also helps reduce paper consumption. The fast printing speeds (22 mono ppm and 18 colour ppm) make it a great option for business use.

Main Printer Disadvantages

Even though the HP 7720 can accept different media types and sizes there is only 1 paper tray, so in order to change the printing media or size you will have to manually change the media in the tray over. Also for a home inkjet the 7720 is quite large with dimensions of 584.9 x 444.8 x 306.4 mm (WxDxH) and a weight of 15.5kg which limits the areas it could fit, additionally for a machine this large the control touch screen is quite small compared to other machines on the market.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?

Yes, we think the HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 has excellent running costs, especially when using our own branded IJT Direct ink cartridges.
