What printer cartridges does the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M176n use?

The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M176n takes HP 130A toners, there is a standard capacity toner for each colour (Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow) and a 4 colour imaging drum unit. Our IJT branded recycled toners and drum units are available for all items. The black toner can print up to 1300 pages and each of the colours can print up to 1000 pages, the imaging drum has page yields of 14000 black pages and 7000 cyan/magenta/yellow pages. These numbers are based on 5% coverage of an A4 page.

Our expert analysis & summary:

The HP Colour LaserJet M176n is a good entry level colour laser printer. It would be a great fit in any home or small office. As expected for a HP laser the printed outputs are impressive in both colour and mono printing modes, the standard resolution the M176n can achieve is 600x600dpi, this is also true of the scanned documents which can reach an enhanced resolution of 1200x1200dpi and copies.

Our thoughts on Design

Our in-house printer experts believe compared to other multifunction lasers the HP M176n is a very reasonable size with dimensions of 423 x 425 x 280 mm (WxDxH) and a weight of just 15Kg. The printer itself comes in a black case with a small control panel on the right side just under the flatbed scanner, at the bottom of the printer is the paper input tray which can hold up to 150 sheets of plain paper, the output tray has a capacity of 50 sheets.

Main Printer Advantages

The HP Laserjet Pro M176n has a very easy set up through HP smart install which removes the need for an installation disc; this means you can be printing almost instantly from opening the box and turning your printer on. The M176n also has mobile printing support from applications including HP ePrint and Apple AirPrint, another smart feature of the M176n is the HP auto on/off which significantly saves energy.

Main Printer Disadvantages

The print speeds of the Color Laserjet Pro M176n are quite slow, especially the colour printing mode which can only produce 4 prints per minute as a maximum. Also despite having mobile printing support the M176n has no standard wireless connectivity, it is also missing some crucial office centric features like an ADF and automatic duplex printing, this means you can only achieve a double sided print but turning each page and to scan multipage documents each page has to be manually loaded.

Running costs - Are the inks good value for money?

We think the HP M176 has good running costs.
