The HP Envy Photo 6230 takes HP 303 cartridges; each set is made up of a black and tri-colour cartridge each coming in a standard 303 and high capacity 303XL. Our IJT branded inks are available in the high capacity. The standard black can print up to 200 pages and the colour up to 165 pages whereas the high capacity black can print up to 600 pages and the colour up to 415 pages. The IJT printer experts think the HP Envy Photo 6230 is a good all in-one home or home office printer. This printer has a range of connectivity options including USB, wireless and mobile printing support through Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print apps. As well as print scan and copy functions the HP Photo 6230 has the added features of automatic duplex and borderless printing modes.

The HP Envy Photo 6230 comes in a black and has a 2.2 inch colour touch screen control panel that is tilted for making accessing setting and controlling print jobs much easier. There is an enclosed paper tray with a capacity of 125 sheets of A4 paper and a separate photo paper tray which can hold 15 sheets of 6x4 photo paper of weight up to 250g/m².

It isn’t just photo prints which are great quality as suggested; the text print quality of the Envy Photo 6230 is also very good for a machine of this price. It can print resolutions up to 1200 x 1200dpi when printing from a computer. The additional features of borderless printing and a separate photo paper tray make the Envy Photo 6230 perfect for printing photos, the separate tray means there is no need to change media when switching between normal and photo printing.

A drawback of the HP Envy Photo 6230 is the printing speeds, which aren’t snail pace slow but with a maximum of 13 mono prints per minute and 8 colour ppm, other comparable printers can produce prints much faster. Another potential issue of the envy photo 6230 is the set up. There are very little instructions as it is reliant on set up by a Smartphone which might not be suitable for everyone. There is also no ADF feature so long multi-page scanning will be very time consuming.
