Our Expert review of the Apple iPad Air 2 128GB WiFi Only
How it’s currently spec’d:
On the surface there is little to tell the iPad Air 1st Gen and 2nd Gen apart. They have the same 9.7” Retina Display and come in a variety of different storage capacities, this one in particular is the 128GB, and in a range of different WiFi Only and WiFi & Cellular flavours, again this one being WiFi Only. It’s underneath the hood where Apple have made this better. It’s got a faster processor; twice the RAM, a better camera and they will support a later version of Apples operating system, which is great for running all the latest apps! Where we think it excels:
Much like any iPad, and especially the iPad Air 1st Gen, it’s great for anyone, from beginner to expert! And, the big plus is that because it supports the latest version of Apples iOS, at the time of writing at least, you can continue to use the most popular apps including Netflix, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, banking apps and more. This version also has TWICE the storage capacity as the 64GB! Even more room to store movies, music and apps.
What we think its drawbacks are:
The iPad Air 2 doesn’t suffer with the same drawbacks as the Air 1st Gen because it supports a much more up to date version of Apples operating system. That lack of expandable storage is greatly reduced with the larger storage iPads much for us it still remains an issue Apple seemingly aren't interested in offering a solution to.
What we think of the design:
It’s an iPad, the design and build quality is excellent except Apple have made the 2nd Gens slightly slimmer and lighter than before. All in all for us it’s even more desirable.
Who it’s suitable for:
Much like the 1st Gens, the 2nd Gen has an almost identical target audience. Use it at home, at school for education or even at work, it will be great.
