Our Expert review of the Apple iPhone X Smartphone

How it’s currently spec’d:

The refurbished iPhone X is a definite reboot on the iPhone 8 that it has superseded. The X packs a 5.8” OLED Super Retina display, which now doesn’t have a physical home button means a screen that more or less covers the front of the handset. This particular iPhone X has  a huge 256GB worth of storage, 3GB RAM and will support the latest operating system, iOS 16. A 12MP dual rear camera as well as Face ID for added security.

Where we think it excels:

It feels very much like Apple has taken an almighty step forward with the X. There has always been a feeling that Samsung flagship handsets have better quality screens but with the X, it feels like this is a premium handset all round, especially with beautiful OLED Super Retina screen. Security features such as Touch ID and facial recognition aren’t really standout features anymore, they are certainly welcome though. The TruDepth camera is superb though. As well as having dual wide-angle and telephoto lenses, they are also capable of capturing 4K video.

What we think its drawbacks are:

The same old story with all Apple products, certainly newer products, no storage expansion or headphone jack. You can only use wired headphones with an adapter.

What we think of the design:

Apples use of materials makes the iPhone X not only feel like a top end handset; it also looks the part to. The almost bezel-less screen, slightly rounded feel in the hand and no home button is really impressive. The one main bug bare we found, almost nothing we did could get rid of smudges from normal use, which is a shame for such a beautiful handset.

Who it’s suitable for:

Ideal for those looking for an upgrade to a far more feature full premium smartphone.
