Our Expert review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 Tablet
How it’s currently spec’d:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 inch SM-T595 was released in 2018 by Samsung and has the following spec: an impressive 10.5” Full HD 1920 x 1200 resolution multi-touch display framed by thin bezels. An 8 core (octa core) processor, 32GB storage space with a microSD card slot for up to 400GB extra and 3GB RAM installed. As well as the standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, the Tab A has 4G cellular connectivity for a SIM card with data so you can browse the web, play games and watch Netflix without need of a Wi-Fi network. Android 10.0 is installed as standard for the latest streaming, social and banking apps.
Where we think it excels:
Great screen size and fairly narrow bezels around the screen does make the most of that 10.5” display which in terms makes watching the latest series on Netflix or Prime or Disney+ an absolute pleasure. It has great expandability with the option to add up to a 400GB microSD card to the existing 32GB built-in storage. Basically Samsung don’t want you to have to worry about what you save on the device and how many apps you have. The Kids mode is a nice touch if you’re buying for your child or will let them use it. It’s a safe space they can view child friendly content only.
What we think its drawbacks are:
Samsung go to great lengths to compete with the likes of Apple to deliver quality tablets, which they do in the main but the whole experience never seems quite as smooth and polished as using an iPad.
What we think of the design:
The screen size gives you more than 9.7” iPads circa the first Gen iPad Pro and iPad 6th Gen and the thin ‘slate’ design feels sturdy and substantial in hand. We also love the fact that Samsung still have a 3.5mm audio jack for those of us, and there are still a huge number, that still use wired headphones.
Who it’s suitable for:
Ideal for home use and a great learning tool for kids.
