The 27" iMac Desktop Computer from Apple is an all-in-one desktop computer with an ultra-slim unibody design. Measuring at just 5mm at its edges, the iMac has 40% less volume than previous iMacs.
The body of the iMac isn't the only thing that got thinner. The LCD display is now 5mm thinner, and Apple also removed a 2mm gap between the LCD panel and the glass to save even more space.
The 27" widescreen display features LED backlighting for vibrant, accurate colour. With in-plane switching (IPS) technology, the iMac has a wide 178° viewing angle. The screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 2560 x 1440 native resolution, supported by a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M graphics card with 1GB of GDDR5 memory.
Impossibly Thin
Just a mere 5mm at its edge, the iMac has up to 40 per cent less volume than previous iMacs. Using an advanced welding method called friction-stir welding, Apple was able to join the front and the back of the iMac together directly.
True-to-Life Colours
None of these innovations would matter much if the iMac display didn't deliver vivid, true-to-life colour. This is why Apple puts every single display through an exacting colour calibration process using three state-of-the-art spectroradiometers: one to measure gamma, one to measure white point, and one to check the work of the other two. This equipment is tuned to meet colour standards recognised around the world for precision and accuracy.
Storage
The iMac comes with a 1TB hard drive so you have plenty of room to save your photo albums, iTunes music libraries, Full HD 1080p movies and more.

A 4th gen Intel Core i5 Quad Core processor with 8GB RAM and a massive 1000GB mechanical SATA hard drive make up the main hardware in this iMac. In terms of network connectivity it as WiFi, gigabit LAN and Bluetooth along with a HD webcam, USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt ports. It comes preinstalled with operating system 10.15 Catalina.
The Good Bits:

No wired LAN access points no problem. The internal wireless card means you can connect to a wireless network. No wireless network connection again no problem! A gigabit Ethernet connection means faster and more stable internet access. You’ll find loads of ports on the back within easy reach for peripherals, another monitor and for SD and MicroSD cards. Best of all, this iMac comes with an operating system that will still support the latest apps.
The Not So Good Bits:
Perhaps typical of Apple and their products, they look great and perform so efficiently but expanding/upgrading them is akin to performing open heart surgery with no knowledge of open heart surgery at all. Ok so perhaps that’s a bit of an exaggeration but Apple do make it tough to do any upgrades because of the need to remove the screen to get to the RAM and hard drive. It’s not impossible but made trickier and all the more expensive make your system quicker.
The Design:
What’s not to love about how this iMac looks? Its slim profile coupled with the slim bezel and brushed aluminium, it’s a work of art. Apple really knows how to nail the design aspect and at the same time remember to include plenty of ports and incorporate a simply but effective cable tidy in the stand. 10/10 from us.
Suitability:
There isn’t an environment we can’t see this pc in, whether that be in a school or college, on a reception desk or design agency or even at home as an affordable Apple iMac option.
