Quick Start Guide
Our Expert review of the Beats By Dr Dre Pill Wireless Speaker
What we think of the design:
When it was first realised the Pill Bluetooth speaker was considered a bold design because of its cylindrical shape, however that particular shape is far more commonplace today. However it’s bright red colouring and large ‘b’ logo button does make it standout from the crowd. It is also lightweight with a sturdy and compact feel to it. The rubberised casing suggests it can cope with a bit of rough treatment.
What’s good about it?
For starters its size makes it perfectly portable and it’s even easier to use. It will quickly pair with your smartphone or tablet by Bluetooth or simply enable NFC and tap your device on top of the speaker for an almost instant connection. You’ll also find Line In and Line Out 3.5mm connections for wired listening and for connecting 1 Bill speaker to another for stereo sound.
What’s the sound like?
The Beats By Dr Dre Pill Bluetooth speaker really responds to base heavy lively music so team it up with that sort of Spotify playlist, it’s like they were meant to be together. When you eventually find yourself wanting to crank the volume right you’ll find a ting of disappointment, especially considering the brand name. On the plus side the speaker has decent rhythmic ability and zips through track after track with a steady tempo.
Are there any drawbacks?
You’d be forgiven for expecting a little better performance at the very highest volume but that’s about the only drawback we could find.
