A lot of head torches use standard AA or AAA batteries you’ll either need to take spare batteries with you or risk not being able to use your head torch. That’s where the T6 Matterhorn is in a different league. Its two 1200mAh batteries will keep the Matterhorn running for up to 4 hours, and then just pop it on charge.

It’s bright and tough. Made of strong plastics, it can put up with some rough treatment and has 250 lumens of lighting power with 4 adjustable light modes, though really we found ourselves on using 2, which we go excellent beam distance from.

Our Expert review of the Summit StormForce T6 Rechargeable Head Torch

What would you use it for?

Just like a bog standard torch, you’d use a head torch when a bit of extra light helps you stay safe, comfortable and makes life a lot easier. Using the Summit StormForce T6 head torch makes this even easier because both hands are freed up.

What’s good about it?

The stand out is the more rugged design and triple light system. As well as the strap that goes around that head, there is an additional trap that goes over the head for a better fit and better stability.

Are there any drawbacks?

Really only the weight, as it is on the heavier side. Considering you can buy head torches that weigh less than 80 grams, at 367 g, the T6 is on the heavy side. This though, is the trade off with having a high capacity rechargeable battery pack and a heavier duty lighting system. We do offer a lighter but equally as reliable Summit Prolite COB 3W head torch as an alternative.

Are there alternative products available?

As you can imagine a simple Google search for head torches brings up thousands of results across a broad spectrum of designs for a huge price range.

If you need a good rechargeable head torch

and don't need a helmet as this is comfortable to wear. Does feel a bit bulky with the side lamps. Good that it is rechargeable through USB outlets
