Epson regularly updates its printer line-up, discontinuing older models to make way for newer, more advanced ones. If your Epson printer isn’t recognising a compatible (non-OEM) cartridge, try these quick fixes:

Remove and reinsert the cartridge to ensure it’s properly seated.
Clean the cartridge chip and printer contacts with a lint-free cloth.
Make sure you have removed all packaging from the cartridge.
Disable printer firmware updates - sometimes updates block third-party cartridges.
Press and hold the "Stop/Reset" button for a few seconds (varies by model) to bypass warnings.

Yes, you can use non-branded cartridges in your Epson printer, as long as they are compatible with your printer. Using non-Epson branded ink can save you a lot of money on consumables and the print quality is very similar.

If you’re looking for a cheap printer, or all in one, consider an Epson – especially if it’s for home use. Home user Epson printers typically have a small footprint allowing them to be kept out of the way or on a small desk space. They come in printer, scanner & copier/fax options, or simply cheap & cheerful plain printers. Well designed, Epson have been printer specialists since the 1960’s so they certainly know their stuff when it comes to print & imaging technology and generally have a model available to suit all needs.

In a word, Yes! Most Epson inkjet printers come with separate ink tanks, which allow you to ensure that your use all the ink you pay for, unlike a tri-colour cartridge - cyan, magenta & yellow in one cartridge -where you may throw away half your ink when one compartment registers as empty. Low cost original Epson ink & value remanufactured cartridges are both available.
